Algonquin Studios is working with Special Touches to provide funding for a sponsorship opportunity at the event, a one-of-a-kind candy favor, The "Nite Cap," included at each dinner guests' place setting. Currently, Special Touches is marketing The "Nite Cap" to hotels, banquet facilities and corporate customers nationwide. The favors are composed of gourmet raspberry flavored chocolates inside a first-class gold-cloth bag. "The idea for the 'Nite Cap,' is rooted in a project I was developing for a party with one of my large hotel clients in Texas," said Christine Castro, Special Touches owner. "The candies were sent as a sample, and the cloth bags were a leftover from a different project, the combination of the two seemed perfect." So the real question is, how do a web and software development company and a corporate gift giving start-up find each other to partner on a project like this? The answer is simpler than you might think, they're neighbors. Both companies are located in the Brisbane Building in downtown Buffalo and the partnership, like so many successful business ventures, started with a chance meeting in the building's lobby. "There's nothing like the energy and spark that a woman like Christine brings to her business," explained Stephen Kiernan, Algonquin's CEO. "Her enthusiasm and drive to succeed are what really inspired us to work with her on this project." Christine only recently opened the doors to Special Touches after working diligently with Buffalo's Black Capital Network to develop funding for the business. "So far, so good" was the sentiment from Christine as she worked with members of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership to assemble the favors on Tuesday, "I just hope that the guests at Curtain Up! enjoy them."
