For Hodgson Russ, Algonquin Studios was charged with building a new web site, from design to implementation on our content management system. We merged QuantumCMS, our content management system, with this design to improve the freshness of stories on the site. This site allows any author with experience equivalent to using Microsoft Office to maintain areas of the site. QuantumCMS allows us to separate the content from the style so that site authors can create consistent pages, and in-house designers can quickly alter the colors and images of the site without having to rewrite the underlying HTML templates..

QuantumCMS simplifies updating your website, while not sacrificing accuracy. Hodgson Russ' staff follow an approval work flow. Authors enter stories, Editors check stories, and Publishers confirm stories. QuantumCMS manages structured stories such as news, articles, events, biographies, products, and files. It composes them into views. For example, QuantumCMS arranges events into a calendar. QuantumCMS also lets authors stage changes into the future, and view the web site in the past. As Hodgson Russ changes its look and feel, it can reuse its existing content.

Summaries are driven from the content system, and authors have full control over what appears and how it appears. The design of the page mimics the design of the Hodgson Russ annual report, but makes use of CSS to allow Hodgson Russ staff to quickly make a new theme for the site.

Attorney biographies are maintained internally in a central repository that publishes the content to the public web site. The same attorney biography system also drives the content in Adobe Acrobat templates, and even into XML so the content can be fed into Adobe InDesign or Quark XPress templates. In this case, the attorney biographies can be fed into any medium Hodgson Russ desires.

Information in QuantumCMS can be displayed in any variety of ways. The user interface is designed to be usable by staff with experience in Microsoft Office^® or similar products.
